This "machete" has a lot of power behind it and seems to really multiply your arm strength. It's a great chopper and de-limber. The shock cord is pretty tight to the handle. If you have large diameter fingers or bulky gloves it might snap during use, otherwise it really helps the knife to hold onto your hand. I read some reviews critical of the choice of the ALRT XL knife that's included. I ordered it anyways, thinking I would just store away the supposedly worthless knife somewhere. I discovered the ALRT XL is the perfect size for scraping the green exterior off of yucca leaves for making soap. The finger hole fits me perfectly. You could also make a spear head out of it for hunting small game (if you thought that was better than sharpening the end of a stick, as I personally wouldn't want to risk jamming the blade into the ground). It's a mediocre blade design for skinning game, but consider that once it dulls, which will be a long time, it's a very easy blade design to sharpen. I decided to keep the ALRT XL with the Power Eagle in it's pouch. 5 stars for the Power Eagle, 4 stars for the ALRT XL.
