I'm fixing up a 1995 YJ that had a severely contaminated fuel tank. Rather than spend hours cleaning it out and wonder if I'd really gotten it clean enough, I decided to replace the tank. Unfortunately, the vehicle is old enough that OEM replacements are no longer available, and the only other options are junk yard pulls, really expensive fabricated aluminum replacements, and this Crown Automotive tank. While not quite junk, this tank leaves a lot to be desired. Unlike the factory tank which has a baffled sump with dedicated mounting area for the fuel return line rubber bushing, this tank does not. I would recommend taking the rubber bushing off of the fuel return line on the sending unit so that it doesn't seal against the bottom of the tank. That brings me to the next issue. The top of this tank was warped inward enough that when the fuel pump/sending unit is bottomed in the tank there was still approx 3/8" gap between the top of the tank and the mounting flange of the sending unit. I had to buy over-length M5 screws to draw the warped tank up to meet the flange of the sending unit, then install the supplied shorter screws for final installation. I do have concerns the additional stress on the sending unit and pump will cause premature failure. Also, I my kit, unlike another poster's, the straps were too short. The factory straps wouldn't work with this tank either, so perhaps the tank shape is very slightly different from factory. Basically, this is a cheap, almost good enough replacent for the OEM tank. Avoid if possible.
